Golf Course Overview

Defence Academy Golf Club is a uniquely sited military golf club established in 1956 within the campus of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham, on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire border. The 18-hole parkland course measures around 5,690 yards with a par of 70 and a course rating of 66.5; the layout achieves its 18 different holes through a combination of 14 greens and 18 separate tees, making each hole feel distinct. A redesign by Weller Designs in 2005 enhanced the layout, with mature trees, gentle undulations and well-placed hazards providing a fair test for golfers of all standards.

The club's mission is to provide a sporting and welfare facility for MoD employees and their families at the Defence Academy, encouraging them to enjoy the game and its physical and mental health benefits in pleasant, novice-friendly conditions. A limited number of memberships are also open to members of the public — interested players should contact the Golf Club Manager for details. The course sits on the Defence Academy estate just off Faringdon Road, with access subject to security arrangements at the campus.
