Golf Course Overview

Davenport Golf Club traces its origins to 1913, when a group of friends calling themselves "The Niblicks" began playing on farmland at Garners Lane in the Adswood district of Stockport; the original 9-hole course continued in use there until 1973. In 1969 members purchased Worth Hall Farm at Poynton-with-Worth, and the new 18-hole parkland course opened on the Worth Hall estate the following decade. The course measures approximately 6,034 yards from the white tees to a par of 70, set on both sides of a quiet country road in the foothills of the Southern Pennines. Tight tree-lined fairways with dense tree belts, gently undulating terrain and a few water hazards reward accurate, considered golf rather than pure length.

The welcoming clubhouse has a high pitched-ceiling lounge bar, dining, sun terrace overlooking the practice putting green and function rooms. Practice facilities, pro shop and fresh catering complete the picture. The club welcomes visitors, societies and corporate groups and runs quiz, steak and themed dining evenings throughout the year. Davenport sits just off Middlewood Road, half a mile from the centre of Poynton, with breathtaking views across to Lyme Park, the Peak District and the Cheshire Plain beyond.
