Golf Course Overview
Originally opened in 1993 as Mid-Yorkshire Golf Club and rebranded as Darrington following a 2011 purchase and major refurbishment, this parkland course was designed by Steve Marnoch, with later work by Simon Gidman in 1998. The 18-hole championship-standard layout measures just over 6,300 yards to a par of 71, routed through mature woodland with gently rolling fairways, lakes, strategically placed bunkers and contoured greens. The par-5 14th, which demands accurate shot-making across its length, is the signature hole, and the closing stretch with its water features is consistently well rated by visiting golfers.
Darrington is a particularly well-equipped venue, with a modern clubhouse offering a 200-seat event space, three meeting rooms, a corporate lounge and the Fairways Suite, making it a popular wedding and conference venue. Golf facilities include a 23-bay floodlit and heated driving range, a pro shop with custom fitting and PGA tuition — Open champion Paul Lawrie and Masters winner Danny Willett have both taken lessons here. The club is two miles south of junctions 32A/33 of the M62 at Ferrybridge and just off the A1(M), making it one of the most accessible clubs in the county.
