 Golf Course Overview

Dalbeattie Golf Club was established in 1894, making it one of the oldest in Dumfries and Galloway. The nine-hole parkland course at Maxwell Park was laid out on former farmland north of the town beside Rounall Wood, and plays 5,710 yards to a par of 68 when looped as 18 holes. The layout has been steadily extended over the years and the course is dominated by panoramic views along the Urr Valley, north to Cairnsmore of Fleet and south towards Kippford and the Lake District hills. The par-4 fourth hole is considered the signature: a straight drive to the corner of the course is followed by a sharp right-angled dogleg to a small green flanked by out-of-bounds and trees.

The club is a member of the South of Scotland Golfers' Association and the Kirkcudbrightshire Golfers' Association. The clubhouse is typically open Wednesday to Sunday evenings plus weekend lunch times from late March to late October, with catering available on club days. Buggies and trolleys can be hired, and there is excellent tee-time availability on weekdays. The course is a haven for wildlife including red squirrels, deer, birds of prey and woodland songbirds, and pairs well with Colvend or Castle Douglas for a 27-hole day.
