 Golf Course Overview

Cradoc Golf Club was founded in 1967 and is set within the parkland surrounding the historic Penoyre House, around two miles north of Brecon and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The 18-hole parkland course was designed by the respected English architect C.K. Cotton, who made excellent use of an elevated site on the north slope of the Usk valley to create a layout with well-defined fairways, mature trees and true, often undulating greens. Measuring around 6,188 yards to a par of 71 off the back tees, the course provides a thought-provoking test for golfers of all abilities. The ninth tee is celebrated for its magnificent views of the Brecon Beacons, and the ground contours of Penoyre Park bring genuine strategic interest to holes throughout the round.

The modern, refurbished clubhouse has a comfortable lounge bar and a restaurant seating up to around 80, with catering provided in-house using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Practice facilities are outstanding by local standards, including a 10-bay floodlit covered driving range, a double teaching bay and a two-acre chipping and bunker practice area, while a fleet of around 20 buggies is available for hire. Cradoc was named Wales' Golf Club of the Year in 2005, has served as the permanent home of the Coors Welsh Tournament of Champions, and hosted the PGA Mid Wales Open in 2003. Visitors and societies are warmly welcomed, and the club is easily reached from the Midlands, South West England and across South and West Wales, with Celtic Manor roughly 45 minutes away by car.
