Golf Course Overview
Cowglen Golf Club was founded in 1906 as a 9-hole course and re-constructed to 18 holes in 1923 to a layout by James Braid. The undulating parkland course measures around 6,105 yards to a par of 70, with mature trees framing the fairways and excellent greens. The course is celebrated for its outstanding putting surfaces and offers magnificent views over Glasgow and across to the Scottish highlands. An extensive programme of course development in recent years has improved the layout, and the practice facilities — including covered bays and short-game areas — were granted Scottish Golf Development Centre status in 2013.
The modern clubhouse offers a main lounge and patio with views over the 18th green and 1st tee, and there are no members-only areas. Catering and bar provision are well regarded. Visitors are welcomed and the club is run by Head Professional Simon Payne. Cowglen sits on Barrhead Road between Pollokshaws Toll and Silverburn Shopping Centre, around 15 minutes' drive from Glasgow city centre via junction 2 of the M77.
