Golf Course Overview

Cottrell Park Golf Resort sits within 400 acres of historic rolling parkland in the Vale of Glamorgan, five miles west of Cardiff at St Nicholas. The estate is home to two 18-hole courses designed by Bob Sandow, a Hereford-born architect who played on the US tour alongside Sarazen, Snead and Nelson and who worked with Robert Trent Jones Sr. The par-72 Mackintosh is the longer and more tree-lined of the two, weaving around mature woodland and an ancient Roman motte, and hosts Welsh Golf Union events and county matches. The American-style Button Gwinnett plays to par 71 over about 6,180 yards, is more open and has 13 lakes in play, culminating in a short par 4 over water to the clubhouse.

The resort was named Welsh Golf Club of the Year in 2018 and has received multiple TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence. Facilities are extensive and include Merrick's Restaurant and a TV sports lounge, on-site accommodation for up to 16 golfers across two apartments, a Sports Hall & Golf Academy with five simulators (three of them GC Hawks), a snooker and pool room, and ample free parking. Cottrell Park is just a few minutes from Junction 33 of the M4 — take the A4232 to the Culverhouse Cross exit and the A48 towards Cowbridge through St Nicholas village.
