Golf Course Overview

Cottesmore Hotel, Golf & Country Club sits on 247 acres at Buchan Hill in Pease Pottage, on grounds originally landscaped in the 18th century by Capability Brown. Established in 1974–75 by the Rogerson family, the club offers 27 holes over two contrasting courses. The 18-hole Griffin Course, designed by M. D. Rogerson, plays to around 6,383 yards with a par of 72 and is a classic tree-lined parkland test featuring narrow fairways and water on several holes; it hosted the Sussex Open in 2006 and 2007. The shorter 9-hole Phoenix Course, a par 33 at around 2,674 yards, runs through the same ancient woodland and provides an accessible alternative for less experienced players.

The club has expanded well beyond golf to operate a 21-bedroom country hotel, seven self-catering Norwegian-style lodges, a health club with pool, gym, sauna and tennis courts, a beauty salon, and wedding and conference facilities for up to 200 guests. A driving range, performance studio, pro shop and PGA tuition complete the golf offer. Buchan Hill is roughly one mile from Junction 11 of the M23 and around 15 minutes' drive from Gatwick Airport, making it one of the most accessible golf venues in Sussex.
