Golf Course Overview
Cooden Beach Golf Club opened in 1912 and was laid out by the renowned architect W. Herbert Fowler on the South Pevensey Marshes a short walk from the English Channel. The 18-hole course measures around 6,518 yards from the back tees to a par of 72, with five par threes and five par fives over gently undulating ground. Although technically built on marshland rather than true links terrain, the springy turf, internal and external dykes and coastal winds give the course a distinct seaside character. The course sits on a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the unpredictable breezes off the Channel remain the principal hazard.
The club provides a modern clubhouse with bar and restaurant, a well-stocked pro shop and tuition from a PGA professional, together with practice facilities and function rooms. Visitors and societies are warmly welcomed, and an established programme of open competitions runs through the season. Cooden Beach lies on Cooden Sea Road west of Bexhill-on-Sea, easily reached by the A259 coast road and by train via nearby Cooden Beach station.
