Golf Course Overview
Cliftonville Golf Club was founded in 1911 and is one of Belfast's oldest golf clubs. The nine-hole parkland course measures around 3,153 yards on a single nine and over 6,200 yards played as 18, with a par of 70. Nestling in the shadow of Cavehill in north Belfast, the course presents a serious test, opening with a famously tough par-3 nominated twice in BBC NI's "Toughest Par 3" feature, followed by an outstanding par-4 2nd of more than 450 yards. The river that crosses the course adds further drama at the 5th and 7th greens, and the maturing greens have plenty of subtle borrows. Despite its testing layout, Cliftonville is widely described as a hidden gem in the heart of the city.
The clubhouse has been recently refurbished and extended and offers good food and drink as well as live music, themed nights and steak nights that are popular with visitors. Facilities include a pro shop, function room and bar with views over the course and Cavehill. Visitors are welcome with prior booking. The course is on Westland Road in north Belfast, just minutes from the city centre and a short drive from both Belfast airports.
