Golf Course Overview
Clayton Golf Club was founded in 1906 on high ground above Bradford and is a nine-hole moorland course of around 6,276 yards to a par of 72 over the eighteen-tee circuit, frequently described as one of the longest nine-hole layouts in Yorkshire. The course was substantially redeveloped by David Hemstock in 1991, and its best-known feature is the par-five "Spion Kop", a long uphill drive named after the Boer War battlefield. Among the players to have graduated from the club is European Tour professional Martin Foster, and the layout combines tree-lined fairways with several elevated tees offering views across the Aire Valley and out to the Yorkshire Dales.
The clubhouse, on Thornton View Road in the village of Clayton on the western edge of Bradford, has a bar, dining facilities and changing rooms, and the club welcomes visitors and societies seven days a week subject to advance booking. Clayton is about four miles west of Bradford city centre and is reached from the M62 via the M606, with on-site parking and a competitive subscription structure aimed at making the club accessible to local players and juniors.
