Golf Course Overview
City of Wakefield Golf Club is a superb municipal pay-and-play facility set in Lupset Park about two miles west of Wakefield. The 18-hole parkland course measures 6,319 yards with a par of 71 and offers generous fairways ideal for testing all types of shot, while wind can become a major factor in club selection on exposed holes. The course features a good mix of holes to keep golfers interested throughout, with the back nine generally regarded as getting better with every hole. A stream cuts across the 9th fairway and is a notable feature of the course.
The course is run by Wakefield Council, with an in-house PGA Professional offering year-round group or individual coaching at affordable prices, including Flightscope analysis and a club regripping service. Facilities include a driving range with mat and grass tees, putting and chipping greens, motor and pull carts, club rental and a relaxed clubhouse with reception, changing and locker rooms. A relaxed dress code allows trousers, smart jeans or smart shorts.
