Golf Course Overview
City of Derry Golf Club was founded in 1912 and is a traditional members' club on the banks of the River Foyle close to the historic walled city of Derry/Londonderry. The 18-hole Prehen championship course is a parkland test of around 6,427 yards with a par of 71, with lush green fairways threading through mature woodland and stunning views of the Foyle valley and the Donegal hills. The site has hosted many world-class players over the years — four-time Open Champion Walter Hagen played here in 1937, and 1947 Open Champion Fred Daly was a member. In addition to the main 18-hole layout the club offers a nine-hole hillside course and excellent practice facilities, making it a 27-hole golf complex.
Facilities include a comfortable clubhouse, a pro shop, putting and short-game practice areas, and visitor green fees with online booking. The club has retained its traditional character while providing a friendly welcome to visitors and societies. City of Derry sits in Prehen, just south of the city centre, easily reached from the A5 and A6.
