Golf Course Overview

Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club was founded in 1902–1905 in the parkland grounds of the historic Barlow Hall estate, just four miles south of Manchester city centre. The 18-hole parkland course plays to a par of 70 over approximately 6,048 yards from the white tees, with a course rating of 70.5 and slope of 137, and is made up of four par 3s, twelve par 4s and two par 5s. The layout winds its way down narrow fairways along the banks of the River Mersey, with the ancient dyke crossing the course and the elevated ground of Spion Kop and Barlow Wood among its most memorable features. A variety of mature trees planted over the decades support rich wildlife.

The clubhouse is an architectural gem in its own right — the Grade-listed 16th-century Barlow Hall, birthplace of the Catholic martyr Saint Ambrose Barlow. It houses the main bar, sun lounge, dining room catering for up to 170 guests, snooker room and locker rooms. The club welcomes visitors and societies seven days a week, offers free-to-hire function rooms for up to 150 people and runs group beginner sessions led by Head Professional David Mackinnon. It is located just off junction 5 of the M60, with tee times available through online booking.
