Golf Course Overview

Chigwell Golf Club dates from 1925 and its course was designed by Hawtree Ltd in collaboration with five-time Open Champion J. H. Taylor. The 18-hole parkland course measures around 6,309 yards to a par of 71, with the whites carrying a slope rating of 138 — among the highest in the county. Undulating fairways, small well-protected greens and strategically placed hazards make precision more valuable than length, and sustained investment has brought irrigation upgrades, reshaped bunkers and a new chipping green since 2022.

The clubhouse has been recently refurbished and offers a bar and restaurant with Sky and BT Sports, plus function rooms for events and monthly Sunday lunches. Facilities extend to a pro shop, grass driving range, putting green, chipping green, halfway hut and trolley hire. Chigwell regularly hosts professional and corporate golf days, and its location on the High Road in Chigwell — a short walk from Chigwell Underground station on the Central line — makes it easily accessible, some 10 miles north-east of central London with the M11 and M25 nearby.
