Golf Course Overview
Chestfield Golf Club, situated between the Forest of Blean and the Kent coast near Whitstable, is a historic private members' club established in 1920 and formally laid out by James Braid in 1924. The 18-hole downland course, which stretches to 6,255 yards with a par of 70, was updated by Donald Steel in 2000 and benefits from magnificent views north-west across the sea to the Isle of Sheppey, the Thames Estuary, and beyond. Former Ryder Cup player and television presenter Peter Alliss described the club as "one of Kent's hidden gems," while Golf Monthly noted that it "oozes golfing heritage." Undulating fairways, changes in elevation, and some of the truest putting surfaces in the county provide a challenge for golfers of all abilities.
One of the oldest buildings used as a clubhouse in the world forms the heart of the club, lending it an extraordinary sense of history and character. The club offers bar and dining facilities, a pro shop, and function room hire. Visitors are welcome, and the club is well regarded for its excellent hospitality and course conditions.
