Golf Course Overview
Chatsworth Golf Club is set within the grounds of the Chatsworth Estate, the historic seat of the Duke of Devonshire, with golf played here for well over a century. The original 18-hole course dated from the late 1800s but fell into disuse, and the present nine-hole layout was revived in 1964 by the 11th Duke and further enhanced in 1977 with a second set of tees so that the course could be played to a full 18-hole par of 69 over around 5,284 yards. A distinctive feature is the complete absence of bunkers, a legacy of the days when Jacob sheep grazed the fairways; the course instead relies on small greens, tight fairways and penalising rough to set its challenge, with views across the village of Edensor and Chatsworth House forming a spectacular backdrop.
The club is largely a private members' venue, with play for non-members generally limited to guests of members, popular open competitions and society or club hire days. The clubhouse offers friendly bar and catering facilities and is well regarded for hosting events and social gatherings. Chatsworth lies just off the A619 between Bakewell and Baslow, close to the centre of the Peak District.
