Golf Course Overview
Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club, often known simply as Chapel Golf Club, was established in 1905 and sits on the valley floor between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge on the edge of Combs Reservoir. The course began life as a nine-hole layout and was extended to 18 holes in the 1970s with a second nine designed by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas. Playing to around 6,416 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, it offers surprisingly flat walking for the High Peak combined with panoramic views of the surrounding fells. Notable holes include the demanding par-4 5th dog leg, the scenic par-5 8th running alongside the reservoir, and a back nine widely regarded as among the most testing in Derbyshire.
The modern clubhouse overlooks the 18th green and provides a bar, restaurant and function space, with a lively social programme including presentation evenings and live music. A pro shop, practice area and tuition are available on site, and visitors and societies are welcomed throughout the week. The course lies just off the A6 and is easily reached from Manchester, Sheffield, the M1 and M6.
