Golf Course Overview
Cawdor Castle Golf Course has been part of the famous five-star visitor attraction at Cawdor Castle since 1976, set within the historic estate of the Campbells of Cawdor in the Scottish Highlands. The nine-hole parkland course covers 25 acres of mature woodland and measures around 1,161 to 1,429 yards with a par of 32 (course record 27). Although short, the layout offers genuine variety and is suited equally to seasoned players and beginners. The unusual par-4 9th — a sharp dog-leg roughly 60 yards down the fairway, with a daring mowed line through the trees for the brave — is one of several memorable holes that make the course much more than a stroll in the park.
Members and pay-and-play visitors enjoy access to the historic gardens and grounds of Cawdor Castle as part of their round, with the Courtyard Café offering refreshment afterwards. Equipment hire and golf tuition are available. The Castle and Gardens close to the public from late autumn until late April, with the golf course offering a peaceful low-season alternative for visitors. Cawdor lies between Inverness and Nairn, just off the B9090 in the Scottish Highlands.
