Entering an open competition at Catterick offers the chance to play a mature parkland course dating from 1930 and redesigned in 1938 by landscape architect Arthur Day, set on the outskirts of Catterick Garrison with undulating tree-lined fairways, sloping greens, the wonderfully named "Devil's Elbow" hole and spectacular views towards Teesside and the Cleveland Hills.

Golf Course Overview
Catterick Golf Club dates from 1930 and was redesigned in 1938 by landscape architect Arthur Day. The 18-hole heathland course measures 6,266 yards from the white tees to a par of 71, characterised by undulating fairways, notable elevation changes, sloping greens and tree-lined holes. Distinctive features include the wonderfully named "Devil's Elbow", large well-protected greens and rolling terrain that rewards accuracy over power. The course rating is 71.2 with a slope of 126.
Clubhouse facilities include a bar and restaurant run by an in-house catering team with panoramic views over the closing three holes, plus James Wallace's professional shop offering lessons, club fitting and repairs. Practice amenities comprise a 200-yard driving range with six undercover bays, a 125-yard practice area, short-game facilities and a putting green. A member-owned halfway house operates on Thursdays, Sundays and during open competitions. The club lies on the outskirts of Catterick Garrison, eight miles from Scotch Corner and a few minutes from Junction 52 of the A1(M).

"Catterick is an undulating meadowland course in North Yorkshire near the famous Army garrison."
There are several changes in elevation during the round with a few of the holes sitting nicely into the landscape. It also has some excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
