Golf Course Overview
Cathkin Braes Golf Club was founded in 1888 by Adam Rodger, Robert Stark and James Davies, and is the oldest golf course in Glasgow. The course was later redesigned by James Braid (around 1921) and now plays as an 18-hole moorland layout of approximately 6,209 yards to a par of 71. Sitting more than 650 feet above sea level, the course offers panoramic views over Glasgow towards the Campsies and across to the Arran hills, and despite its name is relatively flat. The par-3 fifth, where the tee shot must clear a loch to reach a well-protected green, is among the more memorable holes.
The clubhouse offers spacious lounges with full bar and catering, lunch, dinner and bar snacks; the pro shop is well stocked. Visitors and societies are welcomed and a range of membership packages caters to all ages and lifestyles. The course sits in the open countryside of the Cathkin Braes only five miles from Glasgow city centre, easily accessed via the M74.
