Golf Course Overview
Cathcart Castle Golf Club traces its origins to 1893 when it was formed as Merrylea Golf Club, and the present course dates to 1925 with a layout designed by James Braid. The 18-hole parkland course measures around 5,902 yards to a par of 69 (or 70 depending on the card). With six par-3s on the course there are scoring chances for the accurate player, but two winding burns cross several front-nine fairways and from the long par-4 10th onwards out-of-bounds is in play down the right for eight consecutive holes. A new tree-planting programme is enhancing the existing mature birch and pine framework.
The club has a clubhouse with bar, lounge and seasonal dining menu, a fully-stocked pro shop run by PGA professional Stephen Bree, locker rooms and practice facilities. Visitors are welcomed and the club is a popular venue for societies and corporate days. Cathcart Castle is located on Mearns Road approximately one mile from Clarkston Toll on the A727, with views over Glasgow and to Loch Lomond.
