Golf Course Overview
Castle Royle Golf & Country Club opened in 1994 on rolling countryside near Knowl Hill, between Maidenhead and Reading. The 18-hole championship course was designed by former Ryder Cup player Neil Coles alongside David Williams and was built to USGA standards, arranged in two loops of nine that blend links-style open ground with parkland tree cover. The par 72 layout measures around 6,844 yards from the back tees, with three par fives on the back nine and a strong closing stretch. Strategic bunkering is a defining feature, placing a premium on position over raw distance, while the well-contoured greens reward accurate approach play. The club has previously hosted events on the PGA European Seniors Tour.
Castle Royle operates as a members' country club under The Club Company umbrella and, in addition to the course, offers a driving range, short game area, indoor pool, gym with over a hundred weekly classes, Aura spa, bar and restaurant. Visitor play is restricted and green-fee access is primarily through members and their guests. The club sits just off the A4 Bath Road and is readily reached from junction 8/9 of the M4, about 30 miles west of central London.
