Golf Course Overview
Castle Point Golf Course was opened in 1988 on Canvey Island, just inland from Hadleigh Ray, and offers an unusual mixed-character layout of around 6,069 yards to a par of 71. The front nine plays in more of a parkland style, easing players into the round, before the back nine takes on a links character with views over the salt marshes towards Hadleigh Castle and the Benfleet Water Tower. Holes 13, 14 and 15 form the course's "amen corner", with the 14th drive providing a memorable view across the water, while the sea wall comes into play down the right of the 15th.
The course is operated by Glendale Golf on behalf of Castle Point Borough Council, and Castle Point Golf Club is the members' club playing over it. Facilities include a refurbished clubhouse with bar and dining, a pro shop, putting green, driving range, trolley and buggy hire. The site lies on Somnes Avenue close to the A130 and is easy to reach from the A13 between Basildon and Southend.
