Golf Course Overview
Castle Douglas Golf Club was founded in 1904 on the northwestern edge of the market town of Castle Douglas in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright. The attractive nine-hole, tree-lined parkland course was redesigned in 2006 and now measures around 5,400 yards with a par of 68 when played as 18 holes. A prominent hill dominates the layout, and the short third hole with its plateau green is the standout. Greens and tees are kept in very good order and the course was shortlisted for Club of the Year in the 2025 Scottish Golf Awards.
The clubhouse has a bar and catering available from April to September, with a function room suitable for private bookings. Buggies and trolleys are available for hire at modest rates and the course is relatively easy walking with a carry bag. Visitors are welcome as a pay-and-play basis, with occasional closures for members' competitions or weather; a call ahead is sensible. The course sits half a mile from the centre of Castle Douglas on Abercromby Road, handy for exploring the loch-side town and nearby Threave Castle.
