Golf Course Overview
Castell Coch Golf Club, sometimes spelt Castle Coch, sits on a former vineyard at Tongwynlais on the northern fringe of Cardiff and has been in play since 1988. The course is a nine-hole par-3 layout of around 1,158 yards (par 27 over nine, par 54 over eighteen) where every hole rewards accurate iron play rather than length, with the longest hole stretching to about 165 yards. The site is set in a wooded setting beneath the iconic red-walled Castell Coch, after which it takes its name, with several greens framed by mature trees.
The club operates entirely as a pay-and-play facility with no handicap or dress code requirements, making it a popular venue for beginners, families and golfers wishing to sharpen their short game. Practice facilities include a chipping and putting area and practice nets, while the clubhouse offers refreshments. The course is easily reached from junction 32 of the M4 via the A470, lying just south of Caerphilly Mountain.
