 Golf Course Overview

Golf has been played at Casterton for more than 70 years, and the course has been progressively developed into a 9-hole, par 70 layout measuring around 5,802 yards when played over two loops. Set in the Lune Valley near Kirkby Lonsdale, the course is routed across naturally undulating parkland with a distinctive rocky outcrop, and the underlying limestone ensures free drainage and year-round play. The layout contains two par 3s, six par 4s and one par 5, with the third and fourth holes often picked out as the most demanding — the fourth features a blind tee shot to a well-guarded green, while the third offers an elevated tee with dangers on the right.

Casterton also has a par-3 course, a footgolf course, an indoor Trackman simulator studio, a floodlit driving range, two putting areas, chipping green and practice bunker. The Tee Room is open daily for meals, cakes, light bites and drinks, and there is a well-stocked golf shop. Views stretch out to the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakeland Fells and the Lune Valley toward the Lancashire coast. The club sits on the A683 Sedbergh Road about a mile north of the junction with the A65, and is accessible from junctions 35 and 36 of the M6.
