Golf Course Overview
Carrickfergus Golf Club, founded in 1926, is an 18-hole parkland course set on the high ground above Belfast Lough. The layout, set over around 100 acres, plays to roughly 5,657 yards at par 68 with a course rating of 67.9 and slope 115. Tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers and the requirement for accuracy from the tee make the course a fair test, particularly the par-3 7th hole which calls for a precise tee shot over a pond. David Jones is credited with later course development work. The opening holes are notably tight before the layout opens up across the back nine.
Facilities include a clubhouse with bar and the El Amigo restaurant, a pro shop and locker rooms. Visitors are welcomed every day, with green fees that have long been considered good value for the area. The course is easily reached from the A2 coast road and lies approximately seven miles north-east of Belfast, making it a popular stop for golfers exploring the Antrim coast.
