Golf Course Overview
Carnalea Golf Club, founded in 1927, is an 18-hole seaside parkland/links course running along the shores of Belfast Lough between Bangor and Helen's Bay. The course measures around 5,706 yards to a par of 69 with a course rating of 67.4 and a slope of 114. Front-nine holes offer sweeping views across the lough, while the back nine winds through wooded inland terrain with several dogleg holes. The club promotes itself as the oldest seaside golf club of its kind in Ireland and has been a Bangor institution for nearly a century.
The clubhouse, perched above the 9th green, offers a bar and full restaurant service. Carnalea station, on the Belfast–Bangor train line, sits adjacent to the course, making it one of Northern Ireland's most accessible courses by public transport. Buggies and trolleys are available, soft spikes are required, and the club welcomes visitors, societies and members in equal measure.
