Golf Course Overview
Carlyon Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole clifftop championship course laid out over approximately 250 acres of private grounds above St Austell Bay. Measuring around 6,500 yards to a par of 72, it was created from former undulating farmland and its first 13 holes hug the coastline along the cliffs, offering sweeping views across the English Channel, before the round finishes with five more sheltered parkland holes on the inland side of the Penzance to Paddington railway line. Wide fairways and relatively forgiving rough make it fair to play, though the prevailing wind dictates how difficult the course becomes on any given day.
The course is part of the luxury Carlyon Bay Hotel and comes with a six-acre practice ground, two putting greens, a nine-hole approach course ideal for beginners, a well-appointed clubhouse with bar and restaurant, and a team of PGA professionals offering tuition and equipment hire. A lively Golf Festival Week takes place each July alongside open competitions throughout the year. The course sits at Sea Road, Carlyon Bay, just to the south-east of St Austell, with easy access by rail via St Austell station on the main Penzance to London line.
