Golf Course Overview
Carlisle Golf Club was founded in 1908 and the present course at Aglionby was laid out by Mackenzie Ross in 1944, with later revisions by Frank Pennink in 1973 and further refinements by Jonathan Gaunt and Jonathan Davison. The mature parkland layout stretches to around 6,249 yards with a par of 71, course rating of 70.9 and slope of 140, and is flanked by beech and pine with streams intersecting several holes. Regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the North, it has served as a regional Open Championship qualifying venue.
Facilities include a 300-yard driving range with grass, artificial and covered bays, short-game areas, multiple practice greens, a pro shop with custom fitting and PGA coaching, plus a spacious clubhouse with bar, restaurant and function rooms. Visitors are welcomed throughout the year and the club hosts county, regional and national competitions. The course sits half a mile off junction 43 of the M6 and is easily reached via the A69, making it a convenient stop between Newcastle and the Lake District.

Golf Empire Verdict
Carlisle
"Carlisle is a classy parkland course in the heart of Cumbria."
The course was originally founded in 1908 but the current layout did not come into being until Philip Mackenzie Ross remodelled it following the second World War.
