Golf Course Overview

Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Country Club sits in the Tweed Valley just outside Peebles and is home to an 18-hole championship course designed by former Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas and opened in 2001. The par-72 parkland and woodland layout stretches to more than 7,000 yards from the championship tees (around 6,555 from the whites and 6,139 from the forward markers), featuring wide, undulating USGA-specification greens, classic Dave Thomas bunkering and the River Tweed as a scenic backdrop. The par-3 fifth, with water to both sides of a shallow green, and the par-5 sixth, demanding a carry over a burn into a narrow landing area, are among the standout holes.

The course has matured to the point of hosting the Euro Pro Tour in 2004 and 2007 and the European Challenge Tour in 2007 and 2008, and has received the Scottish Award for Environmental Excellence in Golf. Clubhouse facilities within the hotel include lockers, changing rooms, a golf lounge, Spike's Bar for snacks and drinks, a full restaurant and a golf shop, with a resident PGA professional offering lessons. The property is approximately 40 minutes from Edinburgh city centre on the A703, making it a popular choice for Edinburgh-based golf breaks and corporate days.
