Golf Course Overview
Carden Park Golf Resort & Spa occupies a 1,000-acre country estate originally established by the Leche family in the early 17th century. Today it hosts two full 18-hole championship courses plus a 9-hole par-3 and a teaching academy. The Cheshire Course, designed by Alan Higgins, opened in 1993 and plays to a par of 72 over 6,653 yards, running through rolling wooded fells behind the clubhouse with sandstone outcrops and coniferous forest framing the holes; it has hosted the Cheshire Open and the North Wales Open. The Nicklaus Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus with his son Steve and opened in July 1998, is a par-72 layout that can stretch to 7,045 yards, with split-fairway "thinking man's" double-option holes at the 7th and 15th and water in play on over half the holes. The Nicklaus course has twice hosted the PGA Seniors Tour.
The resort's facilities include an 11-bay covered driving range with fitting studio, chipping green with greenside bunkers, two practice putting greens, a 190-room four-star hotel, one of the UK's most acclaimed spas with indoor and outdoor thermal experiences, vineyards, piano bar and multiple restaurants. Visitors and society groups are welcomed and stay-and-play packages are popular. Carden Park sits off the A534 near Broxton, roughly 14 miles south of Chester and 20 minutes from Wrexham, with easy motorway access via the A41 and M53.
