Golf Course Overview
Canwick Park Golf Club, on land leased from Jesus College Oxford on the south side of Lincoln, was an undulating 18-hole parkland course of 6,153 yards (par 70) first laid out in 1893, with the present-day course designed by Hawtree Ltd from 1975 (later amended by Dave Thomas and David Hemstock), and offering fine views of Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. After membership more than halved over 15 years and the club was unable to meet its £25,000 annual rent, members voted to enter voluntary liquidation in November 2018 and the course closed; the clubhouse has since been earmarked for demolition and the land has reverted to sheep grazing and rewilding.
