Golf Course Overview
Canterbury Golf Club is a private members' 18-hole parkland course designed by the legendary golf architect Harry Colt and opened in 1927 on 160 acres of land leased from the War Office — land the club has since purchased from the Ministry of Defence. Set in a delightful woodland setting at Scotland Hills, around half a mile from Canterbury city centre, the course plays to a par of 71 over 6,287 yards, with a course rating of 71.6 and a slope rating of 134. Much of the site is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest by Natural England.
The course is celebrated for its variety and quality, featuring elevated tees, raised greens, steep climbs, sharp descents, twisting fairways and sloping lies. Facilities include a Toptracer driving range, two practice greens, a pro shop, bar and restaurant, changing rooms, and golf lessons with PGA professionals. Visitors and societies are welcome, with society play available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The club has a long history dating back to 1892 and the course is regarded as one of the finest Colt designs in the South East.
