 Golf Course Overview

Bushfoot Golf Club was established in 1890 and is one of the oldest golf clubs on the island of Ireland. The 9-hole links measures around 6,000 yards over 18 holes with a par of 70 and is played from varying tee positions for an 18-hole round, blending classic seaside links characteristics with subtle parkland features beyond the tramline. The opening 1st/10th has been ranked among the best opening holes on any 9-hole course in Ireland, while the heavily-bunkered par three 7th and the blind approach at the third are recognised as the layout's stiffest tests.

The club enjoys spectacular sea views over Runkerry Bay and is less than a mile from the Giant's Causeway, with a full bar and restaurant, a family-friendly pitch and putt course and PGA tuition available from manager Ian Blair. Bushfoot is the host venue for the Causeway Coast Ladies International Golf Tournament, one of Ireland's largest amateur ladies events, held annually in early June. The course is in the seaside village of Portballintrae just outside Bushmills and is convenient for visitors playing the Causeway Coast circuit of championship links.

3.5/5

"Little known Bushfoot golf course at Portballintrae near Bushmills in County Antrim, Northern Ireland is an interesting 9-hole layout in a picturesque location."

Most of the course is played over pure linksland with humpy, bumpy terrain where you are never quite certain where your ball will finish.
