Golf Course Overview
The original Burntisland Golf Club is officially recognised as the 10th oldest golf club in the world, with golf played at Burntisland since at least 1797 (some historians suggest as early as 1688). Today members play their golf over the course at Burntisland Golf House Club at Dodhead, an 18-hole parkland-with-links-character layout designed by Willie Park Jr in 1898 and revised by James Braid in 1922 — Park's only course in Fife. Measuring just under 6,000 yards to a par of 70, the course features tight fairways, fast greens and elevated panoramic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh Castle, the Forth Bridges and Berwick Law.
The traditional clubhouse offers a comfortable lounge bar and dining room with disabled access, with showers, locker rooms and a fully stocked pro shop on site. The course was named Best Course in Scotland (in its price category) at the 2021 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards. Burntisland sits just off the A921 coast road in Fife, around five miles east of the Forth Bridges and 10 miles south of Glenrothes.
