 Golf Course Overview

Burntisland Golf House Club was founded in 1898, though golf has been recorded in Burntisland since 1797 (some historians suggest as early as 1688), making the original Burntisland Golf Club officially recognised as the 10th oldest in the world. The present Dodhead parkland course was first surveyed by Old Tom Morris and designed in 1896 by twice-Open Champion Willie Park Jnr – his only course in Fife – before James Braid made updates in 1922. Measuring 5,995 yards to a par of 70, the layout features generous fairways, lush turf and links-type greens, with four hilly sloping holes rewarding the climb, and views across to Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh Castle, Bass Rock, Berwick Law and the Forth Bridges from the aesthetic 8th.

The traditional clubhouse offers disabled access, a comfortable lounge bar and dining room, while practice facilities include a putting green, chipping green and practice bunker, with buggy, trolley and club hire available. The club was awarded "Best Course in Scotland (2021)" in its price category at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards. Visitors and societies are welcomed seven days a week with tailored packages. Located at Dodhead above the historic holiday town of Burntisland, the course is easily reached from the A921 coast road and well served by the Edinburgh-Fife rail line at Burntisland station.
