Golf Course Overview
Founded in 1905, The Burley Golf Club is a charming heathland layout at the heart of the New Forest, laid out by a group of local gentlemen on Forestry land and little altered in over a century. It is a nine-hole course with 18 tees, giving a genuinely different test the second time around, and measures around 6,151 yards off the men's tees to a par of 71. Free-roaming New Forest ponies, donkeys and cattle add unique character, and the greens are regarded as among the best in Hampshire and the south coast.
Superb natural drainage makes the course playable virtually all year, usually reopening within 90 minutes of heavy rain. The welcoming clubhouse has a bar and pull-trolley hire, and membership is capped at 400 to ensure easy access for members. Visitors are welcomed after noon daily, subject to competition bookings, and societies are well catered for. The club lies on Cott Lane, reached from the A31 via Picket Post or from the A35 at Holmsley, in the village of Burley south-east of Ringwood.
