Golf Course Overview

Burghill Valley Golf Club was established in 1991 on gently undulating parkland four miles north-west of Hereford city, with the 18-hole layout designed by Bob Sandow (often credited locally as M. Barnett in older records) and set among mature trees and established orchards. The course plays to a par of 71 over approximately 6,273 yards from the white tees, carrying a course rating of 70.4 and a slope of 133, and combines tree-lined parkland fairways with strategic water features and well-placed bunkering. Particular holes draw attention for their shot values, including the 8th and the 13th with its notable sand, while the two short opening par-fours allow players a steady start before the course tightens.

Facilities at Burghill Valley include a well-stocked professional shop under Head Pro Andy Cameron, a clubhouse with bar and catering, practice area and buggy hire. The club is privately owned but welcomes visitors and societies throughout the year and holds SafeGolf accreditation, with a full programme of junior, ladies-only and school coaching sessions on top of hosting county fixtures such as the Herefordshire tri-match with Shropshire and Worcestershire. It is affiliated to both the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs and the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Ladies County Golf Association, and is easily found off Tillington Road in the village of Burghill.
