Golf Course Overview
Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club is a traditional seaside links course established in 1891 on the common land known as Summerleaze Downs. The original layout was designed by the prolific course architect Tom Dunn, with Harry Vardon a regular visitor in the early 20th century who held the course record for several years. The 18-hole course measures around 6,036 yards to a par of 71, with holes 1 to 5 laid out on one side of Golf House Road and the remaining 13 fitted into the ground opposite. Natural all-weather fairways, undulating terrain, closely-cropped lies and fast greens make for a characterful challenge, with the long par fours at the 16th and 17th considered the sternest tests on the card.
The club has a well-regarded clubhouse with the Atlantic Bar offering indoor and outdoor seating, a short-game area, putting green and practice net, along with club, trolley and buggy hire. A small nine-hole pitch and putt course sits alongside the main layout. Visitors, societies and hospitality days are welcomed by prior arrangement, and the course is situated right in the centre of the seaside town of Bude with views over the Celtic Sea. The A39 runs past the eastern boundary, and Newquay and Plymouth are both just over an hour away.
