 Golf Course Overview

The Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society was founded in 1761 and is the fourth oldest golf club in the world, with a clubhouse and course at Barntongate around three miles from central Edinburgh. The Society moved to its present site in 1898 and the parkland course was originally laid out by Willie Park Junior, with later modifications by Dr Alister MacKenzie, James Braid and Fred Hawtree, and a substantial 2018 redevelopment by Tom MacKenzie of MacKenzie Ebert that included rebunkering, the remodelling of seven holes and the introduction of three new holes. The course measures around 6,466 yards to a par of 71, weaving between mature trees with views over the Firth of Forth, and was used as an Open Championship Regional Qualifying Venue from 2011 to 2015.

The clubhouse offers a comprehensive catering operation including breakfast from 8.30am, an all-day menu in the lounges and terrace and a fine-dining room serving lunch on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with views over the course and Firth of Forth. Practice facilities include a six-bay driving range with two netted bays for woods, two practice putting greens and a fully stocked pro shop, with visitors and societies very welcome by prior booking.
