 Golf Course Overview

The Brow Golf Club at Welsh Frankton near Ellesmere in North Shropshire was a picturesque nine-hole course of around 2,110 yards set in rolling countryside close to the Welsh border, founded in 1995 by Alf Strange and run with great warmth and community spirit by his son Alan Strange — a former Welsh International and Midland Professional Champion — and his wife Catherine, who ran the licensed clubhouse known for its good food and welcoming atmosphere. The club closed in April 2019 following the sudden death of Alan Strange at the age of 59 in February that year; without his expertise managing the course, Catherine decided the operation was no longer viable to sustain. The land reverted to its owners and the future of the site remains private.

Closed 2019.
