Golfer reviews for Brora Golf Club
My second visit after the first some years ago I was keen to return, and again had a thoroughly adventurous and enjoyable game.
The course is not too penal but makes demands on your game especially around the greens. This region has some really great courses and the people are extremely friendly even to Australians.
Brora is a must play in your lifetime of golf.

Golf Course Overview
Brora Golf Club was founded on 2 November 1891 and originally played over 9 holes before being extended to 18 around 1900. In 1924 James Braid was invited to redesign the layout, and his plan has been largely preserved unchanged, making Brora one of the most authentic Braid designs in existence. The traditional links course measures 6,211 yards with a par of 70, featuring bent grass and beach sand, burn water and gorse, with a railway line coming into play from the 10th tee. Peter Thomson, the five-time Open Champion and regular visitor, called Brora one of the finest traditional links courses anywhere.
The clubhouse provides a modern comfortable base with bar, catering, and panoramic views of the course. The pro shop handles club, buggy and caddie hire, and the course is home to the James Braid Golfing Society which meets annually. Iconic features include low-voltage electric fences around each green to keep grazing sheep and cattle off the putting surfaces. The club is around a 90-minute drive north of Inverness Airport.

Golf Empire Verdict
Brora
"Over breakfast at the guest house in Dornoch where we were staying conversation is struck up with a fellow guest; an American from Chicago and a member at Royal Dornoch."
When informed that we were heading to Brora for the day he says, "It's a very special place, the course simply builds and builds and the back nine is truly outstanding."
