Golf Course Overview
Broadstone Golf Club was founded in 1898 by Lord Wimborne, who commissioned Tom Dunn to lay out the original course on what was then known as the Dorset Golf Club. The layout was substantially remodelled in 1914 by Harry Colt, whose work shaped the course largely as it stands today, with further contributions from Willie Park Jr., Herbert Fowler and, more recently, Frank Pont. Set across 250 acres of rolling heathland terrain, Broadstone plays to a par of 70 over approximately 6,424 yards, with pine, heather, gorse and rhododendrons framing fairways that move dramatically with the land. The 7th, a long par four falling from right to left with a second shot played from a sloping lie over heather, is frequently singled out as one of the sternest holes in the county.
Regularly listed among the top 100 courses in the UK and Ireland, Broadstone has hosted a range of regional and national tournaments including the English Women's Amateur and The Women's Amateur Championship. The modern clubhouse offers bar and dining facilities, a well-stocked professional shop and a practice area, and visitors, societies and County Card holders are welcomed. The course sits in the Broadstone area of Poole on Wentworth Drive, with easy access from the A31 and A349.
