The layout of this course is amazing. It hasn't a bad hole. All is interesting.
Greens are good hardly a straight putt anywhere.
Par threes are possibly the trickiest short holes on any course. Par fours need accuracy with length. Par fives need two mighty hits to reach so caution might be needed.
This course a must for a Golfer who wants a challenge. The Blue tees offer another 300 extra yards if you want to make it harder. I wouldn't the yellow tees will test you enough. Good catering offered from very pleasant staff.
The course has its own driving range, practice putting green, and two chipping greens so arrive early and get warmed up.

Golf Course Overview
Brancepeth Castle Golf Club was founded in 1924 and laid out on what was formerly the deer park of Brancepeth Castle, with the stables and coach house of the estate converted into the clubhouse. The course was designed by Harry Colt, one of the foremost golf architects of all time, who was involved in designing or redesigning over 300 courses worldwide, including Moor Park and Royal Lytham & St Annes. The parkland layout measures around 6,300–6,400 yards to a par of 70, with the castle itself a dominant feature on almost half of the holes and a deep ravine cutting through the property to create a series of testing tee shots. The par-3 ninth, the Garden Hole, is the signature, played across what was once the castle's formal garden to a narrow green below the castle with a Blue Atlantic Cedar to negotiate.
The club is regularly used for Durham County matches and has hosted national competitions. Facilities include the characterful clubhouse with a lounge bar and dining room serving traditional home-cooked food, a pro shop, practice areas and function and room hire for weddings and events. Brancepeth is about four miles south-west of Durham City, reached via the A690 from the A1(M); Durham railway station offers good national connections and Newcastle and Teesside airports are both around 45 minutes away.

The 6,400 yard course was designed by Harry Colt in 1924 and is laid out on what was then Brancepeth Castle Deer Park. It plays to a par of 70 but rightfully has a SSS of 71 from the blue tees.
