Golf Course Overview
Blue Circle (Hope) Golf Club, also known locally as Hope Golf Club or Hope Works Golf Club, has its roots in the early 1930s when Sir George Earle introduced golf to employees of the cement works at Hope. The members' club was formally constituted soon after, joined the Derbyshire and English Unions in 1976, and adopted the Blue Circle name in 1981 following the works' ownership change. The present 9-hole parkland layout sits on reclaimed clay-pit land within the grounds of the cement works in the Hope Valley, and includes a number of memorably named holes such as "Mam Tor" and "Birdie Chance", offering a fair challenge to players of all standards.
Facilities include a clubhouse with bar, a putting green and practice area, with visitors welcomed by prior arrangement. The setting in the Peak District National Park provides striking views of the surrounding hills, and the course is popular with visiting golfers from the wider region. The club is reached from the A6187 between Hope and Castleton, just off the main road through the Hope Valley.
