Golfer reviews for Blairgowrie Golf Club
Just played in the Mixed Open yesterday on the Lansdown course and I could wax lyrical all day, but simply put, golf just does not get any better than this.
My credentials, played for 60 years, lowest handicap was 2, now 8, played all Open venues apart from Royal St. George’s (too far).
The course is just superb, lovely club house, a great welcome from the staff, and the food is exactly what you would want at a golf club, great quality and a good quantity.
For those that have not played at Blairgowrie, you are missing out on a golf course that must rank in the top five heathland courses in the UK.
If there are 2 better inland courses in Scotland, someone will need to tell me where they are. Both the Rosemont and Landsdowne were stunning .Played the 36 hole event at the start of May, hope my handicap holds up until next year it will definitely be on my priority list.

Golf Course Overview
The Blairgowrie Golf Club was founded in 1889 on land provided by the Dowager Marchioness of Lansdowne and is regarded as one of Scotland's finest inland golfing destinations, sitting at the foot of the Grampians among pine, silver birch and heather. It boasts three courses: the renowned Rosemount (designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie in 1914 and opened in 1927, then reworked by James Braid in 1930, with later upgrades by Donald Steel, Peter Alliss and Graeme Webster) measures about 6,600 yards with a par of 72 and is consistently ranked among Scotland's best; the Lansdowne (Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, 1970s) is a longer, tighter test of around 7,007 yards; and the 9-hole Wee Course, a 2,357-yard heathland gem that retains MacKenzie influences.
The club enjoys a handsome clubhouse with bar, dining, locker rooms, a well-stocked professional shop and extensive practice facilities. Visitors and societies are warmly welcomed, with stay-and-play packages widely available in the area. Blairgowrie has hosted many major championships including the British Seniors Amateur Stroke Play, British Boys Home Internationals and Scottish Amateur, and was famously where Greg Norman won his first European Tour title (the Martini International) in 1977. The course is situated on Golf Course Road in Rosemount, a short drive south of Blairgowrie off the A93, roughly 16 miles north of Perth.

Golf Empire Verdict
Blairgowrie
"It’s generally a case of slim pickings when it comes to high quality golf away from the sea in Scotland, however, at Blairgowrie the old adage about buses rings true because two come along at once."
The Rosemount and Lansdowne play over the same fantastic heathland terrain and bring a touch of the Surrey sandbelt to the Perthshire countryside. Neither quite matches the very high benchmark of their southern counterparts but there is still much to enjoy on this idyllic 45-hole, 300-acre property adorned with spectacular pine, birch and heather.
