Golf Course Overview
Blairbeth Golf Club at Mill Farm, Rutherglen, near the Cathkin Braes south of Glasgow, was founded in 1910 as an 18-hole hilly parkland course of 5,537 yards (par 69) with sweeping views over the city. It closed in October 2015 with debts of around £135,000, after declining membership and a sharp drop in clubhouse trade — partly blamed on Scotland's tighter drink-driving laws introduced in December 2014. The site has since been transformed into Fernbrae Meadows local nature reserve, designated in 2022, with 3.7 km of paths and managed biodiversity meadows replacing the former fairways.
