Golf Course Overview
Blackwood Golf Centre — known locally as 'The Blackwood' — was established in 1994 within the parkland of the Clandeboye Estate, just three miles from Bangor and twelve from Belfast city centre. The centre offers two 18-hole courses designed by Simon Gidman: the championship Hamilton Course, a parkland layout of around 6,392 yards with a par of 71 (and standout signature 12th — a picturesque par-3 over a small lake with views to Belfast Lough), and the shorter Temple Course, a par-54 par-3 layout that is ideal for beginners, juniors and short game practice. Both are well-maintained, with quality greens, tightly cut fairways and challenging hazards.
Northern Ireland's premier pay-and-play facility, Blackwood is open to the public seven days a week with optional membership. Facilities include a 26-bay floodlit driving range powered by TopTracer technology, a USGA-style sloping practice putting green, a short game area, a well-stocked pro shop, the LUXE Day Spa, the 19 Coffee House and Sam's Bar and Grill. The centre is on the Crawfordsburn Road and easy to reach from the A2 Belfast-to-Bangor route.
